Today is Tuesday, September 16th, and today I’m blessed to work three gigs in 7 hours. For the first gig of the day I am performing my show “The Sound of Swing” with my trio, The Flying Keys. This performance has been in the books for a couple of months, and this will be the first trio gig my company has booked through Beach House at Naples. I am going to be accompanied by my friends and colleagues, Nicholas Romig on drums and Gabriel Burgos on bass. Being able to play with such confident and strong players is always an enriching experience; it is exciting and, most of all, it is one of the funnest experience a person can have.

Afterwards, I have to race down to another retirement home to play for their dinner. Every Tuesday I go to The Terraces and perform for the people. The gig is a solo piano gig that I’ve booked through my company; I tend to play slow swing tunes to up-tempo swing. Throughout the gig, I tend to get a lot of song requests. Some of their favorite requests are: Hallelujah, Laura, Polkadots and Moonbeams.

Finally, to close off the day, I have one final gig: I get to perform a trio gig with my jazz professor, Brandon Robertson, at this restaurant, Eddie V’s. It’s the longest gig of the day, going for 3 hours, 6:30-9:30. This is my second week performing with the BR Trio, and I really love the opportunity.
